We all make mental errors in this game. I truly believe the higher the handicap the more of these mental errors are made. I can almost guarantee you that if the high handicap golfer just took a club that will put the ball in the fairway half the time or more, regrdless of distance and made sure that he took one or two more clubs on his or her approach shots the score would be reduced dramatically. The next time you go out to play I suggest you try this and see for yourself. That's all for now.

Are you working on the right things? Don't practice what you nare already good at first. Practice what you really struggle with. Is it bunker play? Short putts? The driver? Whatever it is practice it first, especially if it is putting as it makes up approximately 42% of the game. That's all for now.
Have you ever four-putted? I believe everyone that has played for any length of time has four-putted or worse. I recall Tiger Woods four-putting at The Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia a few years back. To cut to the chase I am using this as an example of one of the myriad of "bad things" that can happen on the golf course at any time. Now, the nuts and bolts of this is for me to pose another question. How did you react? I'll bet you thought you were a real dunce. Most people have been programmed to accept defeat way too often. The Tennessee Titans football team lost their first six games in 2009. How did they respond? Four victories in a row. Never give up. Use your bad hole or two to refocus your mind and to go through your routine. Stalk the putt like Tiger Woods would after that experience. Listen, golf is not a perfect game. People are human, things happen on the golf course. Choose to react with a smile and try to birdie the next hole. If you let it get to you your score will be even worse. Choose to be the best you can be on that day and remember, golf is a game.
This short article addresses something few golfers think about enough. Please check your grip, posture and stance(alignment) on a regular, ongoing basis. The grip, if not perfect will definitely make the outcome of each shot worse than it should be. Your posture and stance can effect the swing path which in turn leads to off the mark shots. I will delve into this in further detail at a later time but remember for now to check these fundamentals on a daily basis.
If you ever start to play bad remember to go through your preshot routine. That should get you back on track fairly quickly. If you don't have a certain preshot routine one that I use is get behind the ball and first visual the shape and trajectory of the shot. Then visualize where you want the ball to land. Take a few practice swings and then address the ball. Then just make sure that you make an aggressive swing. That should get you back on track to playing your game.
One thing that almost all golfers do is overestimate their abilities. Try to hit the shot that you know you can pull off 70 percent of the time. Even if you miss it a little you still should be in good shape and if you make a putt or two you might find yourself shooting a great score.
